Hi, I just wanted to tell my story about our trip from Toronto Canada all the way down to Santiago Chile! My family and I set off on January 1982! We spent 2 months to get there and the experience was game changing! My dad did all of the driving in his 1973 VW Camper :)

Free Ride to Guatemala City.

We are taking a motor home and Toyota Rav 4 and have room for 1 or 2 more people. If you help us with the trip, you won't have to pay.

Leaving Arizona around June 16,2014

We are traveling from Arizona to Guatemala City in June. Driving a motor home and car. 2 of us are moving to Central or South America.

If anyone wants to caravan that would be great.

Hey guys! My dad and I are about to leave on a month long journey from northern Michigan to Manaus Brazil, using motorcycles, a boat ride around the gap, and then a flight from Bogota to Manaus. We are being featured on several magazines and newspapers, including a 30for30 article in ESPN, and we would love any camaraderie from fellow travelers such as yourself. Also, does anyone have tips on shipping motorcycles from Colon, Panama to Cartagena, Columbia? Feel free to contact me directly at 8000mileswithdad@gmail.com or visit our website at 8000mileswithdad.com for more info. Peace be the journey.

Nate, don't stop in Panama! As Che says: Hasta la victoria siempre! Bikes are so easy to ship. It would be a shame not to do South America :)
I would not worry bout all the violence too much. Stay on the main roads, drive during day time, find place to stay before dark. Most motels hotels are gated and guarded. Bad guys do not really care about 1 or 2 bikers. What can you take from a biker, really? A caravan of big old motorhomes may be more tempting.
May the force be with you!

Alaska -> Panama trip planned on motorcycle, but I have concerns about rider safety in Central America. Kidnappings, cratel violence, etc., which have been making headline news. Can anyone please comment on any recent trips in the region? garphenko@yahoo.com thanks!
