Day 63: Tamagringo
April 11, 2006
Looks like everything we have heard about Costa Rica might be indeed true!
We wake up early in the morning to go looking for a campsite, and the first
thing we see right outside the camping area is a tree full of howler monkeys
sluggishly moving from branch to branch following the rays of the rising sun
and lazily munching on the tree leaves. What an incredible sight that was!
Couldn't wish for a better start in the Tico country.
The following impressions of Tamarindo, are, unfortunately, not so positive.
One hour of Internet - $3, a small beer in a bar - $3, a two-tank dive - $90
hearing the almost forgotten English everywhere around and feeling like being
back to California - priceless!! :) (we miss all of you guys back there very
much!). Luckily the campsite we have found is relatively pleasant and cheap
($4 per person per night) and located right on the coast, so we can hang out
on the beach for a day. Off we'll be going tomorrow before we go bankrupt
in Tamagringo! :)
Tip #1: There are several dive shops in Playa Tamarindo offering two-tank dives for $90, which includes a bumpy early morning bus ride to Playa del Coco. So if you feel like going for a dive or two, better stay in Playa del Coco instead of Tamarindo and go diving for less! :)
Tip #2: Word-of-mouth advertising really works miracles. Bet you every
traveler who comes to Tamarindo sooner or later ends up in the Witch's Rock
Surf Camp Café for the "nachos as big as your ass" served
with 2-for-1 beers. Of course, we went for that too, and thought we'd let
you know that the "nachos as big as your ass" is indeed on the menu!
However, the size of the portion should rather be compared to a small butt,
and the taste was half-assed as well :)

63-oji diena: Tamagringo
2006 m. balandzio 11
Ryte keliames labai anksti, nes reikia susirasti kempinga - viesbuciai Tamarindo
labai brangus (pats pigiausias kambarys, kuri vakar vakare pasiseke rasti,
auksta medi, pilna keistu juoduliu. Juoduliai juda. Einame artyn issiaiskinti
ju kilmes, ir randame medi, pilna bezdzioniu-staugunu!
Kai kurie "juoduliai" tingiai sildesi sauleje, kiti pusryciavo -
Costa Ricos gamta, bus teisybe!
kurios Centrines Amerikos salies vietose.
- viena is tokiu "turistu meku", is kuriu turistines kainos seniai
isbaide visus vietinius). Ka gi, viena diena (pazinimo tikslais) daug zalos
nepadarys, taciau rytoj nesdinames is sio Tamagringo atgal i Centrine Amerika
:)).
